DISSIDENT EDITIONS
Shakespeare's not-so-profound observations & Yeats' less-than-insights are artfully couched in wonderful language:
Indeed, it might be said that the "greater" the Art, the more it stifles thought.
The myths of art and culture are at least as devastating as the myths of knowledge and revealed truth.. The global (soon to be monoglot) hegemony of hypocritical greed, total world-exploitation, education- and media-led homogeneity of thought, life and universal anti-awareness enlist art (the "greater", the more useful) as an opiate for those who might otherwise question. But Rilke said in a sonnet to Orpheus that Art is only true when it changes your life . The battered, limbless Ancient Torso of Apollo (a kind of metamorphosed Angel) radiates the message: Du mußt dein Leben ändern. We hope that the poems on these pages will make you flinch. Journalism and the novel have eaten poetry from the inside, as well as diminished it from without. Because 'truth' can only be poetic, poetry must rise to the philosophical and metaphysical challenge for which it is uniquely apt. This website is deeply dedicated to waking up the chloroformed subjects of culture and civilisation who are put into the sleep of arrogance by education, and fed on the sweet toxic dreams of culture.
For over two hundred years, Greed in its ineffable image of Money has been greater than God: a paramount, vicious, hypocritical and insatiable Juggernaut.
